Why am I seeing a family consultant? 5-8 years

A Family Consultant is a person who works at the Court and helps families who don’t live together anymore.

They talk to parents and kids.

Their job is to help the judge understand about your family.

The judge has asked the Family Consultant to talk to you about your family.

It is hard for kids when parents decide to live in different houses, and the judge wants to know how you feel about things.

The Family Consultant helps families when parents don’t live together anymore. They talk to you and your parents, and might do some activities or games with you.

While at the Court you may play in a room with other kids for some of the day, or you may play with your parents in a different room.

It may be good for the judge and your parents to hear what you think.

If you talk to the Family Consultant about your feelings, he or she will help the judge and your parents understand how you feel.

If you don’t want to say anything, you don’t have to.

Judges meet lots of families in their job. They know how to set things up so that kids are safe and happy. They usually want you to have fun with both your parents, but sometimes it is best for you to spend more time with one of them. The judge will think lots about you and your family, and will make sure that the best thing happens for you.
